I have practiced as an Occupational Therapist for 14 years; including specializing in working with individuals following neurological injuries. My work resume includes extensive experience in assisting my clients with pursuing gainful employment as a part of the rehabilitation process. I very much enjoy helping individuals achieve their personal and professional rehabilitation goals in a variety of settings such as the home, community, or in the workplace.
My background includes receiving my Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Physical Education from Arizona State University and my Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. I have worked in highly complex environments specializing in the evaluation, care and treatment of individuals who have experienced a neurological injury. This experience includes work within the inpatient Neurorehabilitation, ICU’s, and outpatient clinics at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. In addition, I was the Program Coordinator for the Comprehensive Vocational Rehabilitation Program at Southwest Advanced Neurological Rehabilitation (SWAN Rehab), and SWAN’s Clinical Director.
I demonstrate an extensive knowledge of Occupational Therapy skills, including scope of practice, and therapeutic role as it relates to functional independence. I am Certified in the use of Bioness H200 Wired / Wireless orthoses including clinical application, fitting, and treatment planning. I have also had extensive training in Kinesiotaping evaluation, application, and use in treatment planning.
My strong organization, time management, project management skills, and multi-tasking abilities have allowed me to successfully contribute to the Arizona Occupational Therapy Association (ArizOTA) as Treasurer (2009- 2011); Conference Committee Co- Chair (2010 and 2011); and, Spring Conference Chairperson (2012). My enthusiasm and sense of community within the ArizOTA organization resulted in my receiving the Dennis Krenek Volunteer Service Award (2009; 2010; 2011; and, 2012). I was very honored to be awarded the ArizOTA Outstanding Occupational Therapist of the Year award in 2012.
I consider myself blessed every day to have discovered the field of Occupational Therapy. I am honored to have the opportunity to participate in my clients’ lives as they develop necessary life skills, create their dreams, and build lives full of value and meaning.
